VMF-251 climbed to altitude and entered patrol around airfield. At about 2330 enemy aircraft sighted by Dirty Aces inbound to 33. Wyatt ordered squadron to intercept. Contact made at about 2340 with large formation of 50+ B-17s and Spitfires, contrary to reports suggesting formation was unescorted.
Wyatt ordered squadron to push through escorts and engage. Wyatt shot down two B-17s at 2347 and Sidle shot down one. Downey bailed out at 2346. Trol shot down and Roche bailed out at 2347. aJoust bailed out and Sidle shot down at 2349.
Bombers made successful drop on A33 and turned East. Wyatt attempted to regain position for another attack, but now below formation. Sighted Spitfire and engaged in running engagement over two sectors before gaining position. Shot down Spitfire at 0007.
Wyatt returned to nearest field (A35) for rearm, when reports of Spitfires were received in area. Began climb back to altitude and located friendlies engaged with multiple Spitfires. Wyatt entered engagement and shot down one at 0012.
Wyatt rearmed with two Bf-109s of The Killuminati at 35, and proceeded N to investigate sightings of enemy aircraft near Calais. Large formation of B-17s sighted. While Killuminati engaged escorts, Wyatt turned for bombers. During attack on formation Wyatt suffered severe damage, losing both wingtips and suffering engine damage. Wyatt dove out and managed to control aircraft with rudder and elevators, and attempted to recover at airfield along the coast. Crashed when engine failed short of runway.
