Squadron set up patrol in SW while VF-17 patrolled further E. Outbound strike package detected possible enemy strike heading for 37 from E. VMF-251 and VF-17 vectored to intercept. VF-17 engaged first, followed by VMF-251.

Roche and Wyatt each forced B5N down at 2327. Wyatt and Sidle each shot down A6Ms at 2328. Wyatt and Roche shot down 2329.Trol shot down Zero at 2330. Sidle shot down another at 2331.

Sidle, Trol and Bodie rearmed at 2337. In follow-up engagement Sidle shot down Zero at 2358. Bodie went down in enemy territory 0000. Millsaps crashed 0005. Sidle and Trol recovered 0045.
