Squadron formed up and divided by flights to patrol area around A44. Red Flight patrolled NE, while Blue and White covered SW approach. VMF-251 along with 412th assigned to intercept escortes, with Fw-190s of Fate to provide destroyers against enemy bombers.

At about 2310 contact made with enemy aircraft by Red Flight. Contact was reported and attempted to rally with remainder of CAP. Red Flight and 412th drawn into engagement by Seafires.

Red Flight down by 2319. Blue and White continued engagement against another formation approaching A44. Morgan claimed Seafire at 2321. MEF4UD shot down 2323. 1Duke1 shot down Seafire at 2325. Trol claimed Seafire at 2327, and Santana one at 2329. Bodie shot down 2334.

Remainder of squadron rearmed by 2335 and returned to positions. Morgan claimed Seafire at 0007, shot down at 0009. 1Duke1 shot down Seafire at 0010. Trol at Santana shot down 0010. 1Duke 1 shot down 0011.
